School of the Arts Dance
Creative Director, Designer, Digital Illustrator
Tactics: Logo Redesign, SWAG Merchandise, Program Booklets with Paid Advertising, Website Redesign, Event Posters, Fundraising Initiatives
The dance program at Charleston County School of the Arts deserved visibility equal to its talent. Despite its place in a nationally ranked magnet school, the dance department was often overlooked. I led a five-year arts education branding design partnership to elevate the program’s presence. The objective was cohesion, recognition, and long-term growth.
The work began with a sophisticated logo redesign. The identity needed to feel refined and aspirational. It had to match the caliber of the performances. From there, I developed a complete visual system. Student-focused visuals strengthened pride and internal visibility. Event posters brought energy and consistency across performances. Program booklets incorporated paid advertising to support fundraising. Layout and typography elevated the perception of the department. The redesigned website unified messaging and improved access to information. Every touchpoint reinforced a cohesive identity. The program felt established and intentional.
The results were measurable. The work earned six American Graphic Design Awards from GDUSA. National recognition increased the program’s profile within the school and community. Fundraising initiatives gained momentum. The department secured professional-grade ballet barres and expanded scholarship opportunities. This arts education branding design effort demonstrates the impact of sustained creative leadership. Over five years, the visual system matured alongside the program. As the graphic designer and art director, I guided both strategy and execution. The outcome was not just cosmetic. Thoughtful design strengthened identity, increased participation, and opened doors for young artists to thrive.
