United Way
Art Director, Designer
Tactics: Campaign Concept, Annual Report, Brochures, Books, Posters
For United Way in the tri-county area of Charleston, I led creative development across multiple regional initiatives. The work required strong emotional intelligence, connection and strong narrative clarity. My role centered on graphic design for nonprofit brochures and annual report design that communicated measurable community impact. Each piece needed to balance emotional resonance with credible data.
For Success by 6, their early childhood intervention program, I created a book and poster campaign inspired by fairy tales. The concept was designed to engage parents and caregivers in a familiar, accessible way. The visuals felt imaginative while remaining grounded in real outcomes. The materials extended beyond inspiration. Clear messaging supported program enrollment and community awareness. Design decisions were purposeful and structured.
I also developed a high-end brochure for the regional Leadership Initiative. The piece positioned the program with confidence and professionalism. Typography, layout, and photography worked together to reinforce credibility; embossing and foil stamp added to its high-end feel.
Their Annual Report centered on the concept “The Power of U™.” The theme highlighted individual contribution within collective impact. The design emphasized clarity, hierarchy, and transparency in data presentation. That annual report was recognized as one of the top three United Way reports nationwide. The distinction reflected both strong concept development and disciplined execution.
Across all deliverables, my focus remained consistent. Data must be clear. Impact must be visible. Design must serve the mission. This body of work reflects leadership in nonprofit brochures and annual report design. As art director and graphic designer, I ensured every asset strengthened trust, increased engagement, and elevated regional presence. The result was communication that inspired action while reinforcing measurable community outcomes.
